What is streaming?

Back to FAQs

Distribution of access to medical images is done via several different technologies on the market today: Web Serving, Raw streaming, Intelligent Downloading and Adaptive Streaming. The EasyViz uses a proprietary form af Adaptive Streaming.

Adaptive streaming is the first technology that can make any modern PACS system completely mobile. Large images or data sets can be accessed in seconds inside or outside a facility, on virtually any device, through patient portals, via EMR systems, or using stand-alone ultra-thin clients. Full-quality DICOM images are viewed, and a complete toolbox of 2D and 3D functionality is provided.

The streaming technology is unique because of the complete support for clinical nomadic workflows. The methods and techniques used in adaptive streaming are highly optimized for the processing of medical image data. Server-sided computing ensures that all clients have access to the most powerful computing engines, largest data sets, and most extensive sets of analysis tools. The connection between clients and servers is encrypted, and the streaming method adapts to changing conditions in order to meet requirements for bandwidth usage, image quality, and interaction rates.

The EasyViz system simply extends the reach of existing PACS or EMR systems out into the enterprise and across regions. Clinicians get wireless and mobile access from the first day!
