What about maintenance and support?

From a maintenance and support perspective the desktops used throughout the hospital have always been the most difficult and time consuming ones to manage. Different applications requiring different versions of .Net or Java in a heterogeneous environment are a highly complex and difficult setup to manage.

EasyViz is based on adaptive streaming and server-side computing. The power of the server is used to render final screen images from the PACS archive which are then compressed and transmitted to client devices in accordance with requirements regarding bandwidth usage, image quality, and interaction rates. The server can easily be managed centrally or from a remote location.

The client application is just 1.5 Mb in size and can be downloaded in 3 seconds from a server or portal anywhere in the hospital. The client is a native C++ application and does not require any services on the desktop such as .Net, Java or ActiveX.

This concept basically removes any needs for support and administrative privileges on the client side, which is support that can be used for other purposes in the hospital.
Installation of the EasyViz system and training of users can be done in a single day.
